The event was held as a luncheon and featured short speeches as well as about 10 minutes of performances from each of the recipients. Melissa Aldana played 2 unaccompanied solo pieces – a version of “Ask Me Now” and a version of “But Not For Me”.
Aside from Martin E. Segal’s children, and a number of other dignitaries, the event was also attended by the Chilean General Consul Julio Fiol and his wife Fernanda.
In order to attend the award event Melissa had to fly back from touring in Italy yesterday, and went straight to the airport after the award event to continue the tour. Tomorrow evening she will play Casa del Jazz in Rome with Crash Trio.
